Let's Go Knights!

UCF basketball did something their football team rarely does. Beat a BCS conference opponent. Making it even sweeter for the Knights was that it came against I-4 rival, South Florida.

Let by C-USA POY Candidate, Jermaine Taylor's 28 points, the Knights captured the 71-63 victory. The Knights move to 4-3, while the Bulls fall to 3-3.

This night could only be sweeter for Knight fans if Matt Groethe would have been beaten up at center court during halftime.

Not a bad promotion idea, come to think of it...
just don't let any UCF D-Lineman do it.
He'd get away for sure...

  1. I was at the game. Electric atmosphere with the second highest attendance in school history. Student section was fantastic!

Both teams were very sloppy in the first half but USF had a 9 point lead at one time. UCF fought back and had the shot of the game from Drew Speraw...the rarly used coaches son...a 3 from the corner at the buzzer to cut the lead to 2 at the half.

Second half was much better for the Knights as they forced USF into a ton of turnovers, and took advantage of them. Jermaine took over at that point and we cruised to victory.

    A few observations:
    - Dominique Jones on USF was lights out. Game high 31 points for him as he abused any Knight that tried to guard him. However his scoring wasn't timely as he was held scoreless in the final 6 mins of play.

    - Taylor had better be first team CUSA. He is so good at creating his own shot and making said shot.

    - UCF is YOUNG. 7 freshman grace the roster and a lot of them are getting plenty of run. I loved the scrappyness and hustle of AJ Rompza, and look out for AJ Tyler. That kid played real well in the times that he was in.

-I don't know the final stat but USF had to have shot 50% from the free throw line. If they would have hit half of the ones they missed they may have stolen this one from UCF.
