There wasn't much to cheer about in the early going for Billy Gillespie's Cats.
Jodie Meeks is seeing to it that changes.
The 6'4'' junior dropped a career-high 46 points on Saturday night. Since 1961, only seven Cats have topped the 40-point mark. Of those seven, only one followed it up with a performance eclipsing 20-points in their subsequent game.
Meeks had that knocked out by halftime against Tennessee Tech. Jodie hit 7-9 from distance in the first half, and then played sparingly in the second half (the Cats were up by 40-50 much of the half). He finished with 32, giving him one of the most prolific 2-game runs in Kentucky basketball history.
Can he translate that success when they reach conference play?
If so, they will be dancing once again in Lexington.
