Cincinnati dispatched easily of Mississippi St in the opener, and Louisville made for an unwelcome return to the Queen City for former Bearcat interim-coach Andy Kennedy and Ole Miss. Or was that his cab driver! Rimshot!
Louisville walked away with a quality win, but looked like a far cry to be a potential challenger to the North Carolina throne of greatness. Defensively, the Cards were typically tough, holding Mississippi star Chris Warren to 5-20 shooting (and .319 as a team). However the Cards also shot under 40% from the floor in a game that was..ehm, "less than aesthetically pleasing."
With the pair of wins, the Big East and SEC split the inaugural Challenge.
