Welcome Back from the Maniac!

It's Thanksgiving again; 'Feast Week' for us college hoops aficiandos, and it is once again time to crank up the college hoops machine of banter and semi-mindless drivel known as March Maniacs.

For our veteran readers, welcome back.  For our newest fans, thanks again Mom for learning how do the forwards on the email machine.  The added traffic is more than welcome...

Majors be-Ware...

If the early season returns are any indication, it is going to be an interesting season.  We have already had Top 15 teams go down on their home floors to 'mid-major' programs  (although Cleveland State beating Vandy with Festus Azili and Casper Ware and Long Beach State beating a highly overrated Pitt team may not look as 'shocking' come March...).  We have also seen a clear emergence of at least two teams as the nation's elite in Kentucky and North Carolina.  I'll listen to entertaining arguements for UConn, Ohio State, Duke and possibly even Syracuse; but no one can convince me at this point that anyone is on the same plane as the Heels and Cats on November 23rd.

Fortunately for us, the two most storied programs in college basketball history will square off in a little more than a week.  Barring a surprising upset, it should be a nice pre-Christmans #1 vs. #2 treat.

It's going to be an exciting season.  We'll check in shortly with the season's first Bracketeering edition, and though I've tipped our hand slightly to the Top 2 (though haven't given away their respective order), I think some of the other Elite 8 and Sweet 16 will raise a few eyebrows.  Take it for what it's worth, but there's a reason we are over 57.5% against the spread since 2008...

I'm just saying...

Enjoy the season - and welcome back fellow Maniacs!  It's going to be a blast.
